MCC has, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Metallica Commodities Corporation Guyana Ltd; secured the exclusive rights to mine Dimension Stone and Aggregates at the site of the recently closed Omai Gold Mines Limited Mining Lease area in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni district of Guyana.

Since 2009, MCC engineers and consultants have conducted technical and economic studies and have determined that the demand and supply situation in Guyana and the Caribbean supports the commercialization of the aggregate stockpiles, estimated by consultants to the European Union to be in excess of 200,000,000 tons, at MCC’s Omai, Guyana facility. Anticipated local demand for both aggregates (for construction) and boulders (for Rip Rap sea defense work) shows that an operation producing up to 200,000 tons per year of aggregates and boulders would be viable.

In 2011, MCC began the production of an assortment of aggregate products and have secured supply contracts with several leading local contractors.. Deliveries via MCC’s fleet of trucks, as well as contracted transporters, began in the fourth quarter of 2011.
